Amélie Company, a boutique ad agency in the heart of Denver’s RINO neighborhood, is looking for a full-time Motion Graphics Designer to breathe movement into our work. 

As the Motion Graphics Designer at Amélie you will be a lead in your role, using your strong creative background to bring to life art that captures the attention of our audiences. You will work closely with the Creative Director, Amélie’s Director, Production Studio + IT, and the creative team to brainstorm and create high quality video content that reflect branding priorities.

The nitty gritty:

Reports to the Creative Director

Experience:  4 – 7 years of experience making beautiful things.

While acting as our lead MGD you also will be working alongside our Direction, Production Studio + IT who also helps with our motion graphics.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as lead Motion Graphics Designer and mentor Amélie’s Director, Production Studio + IT in MGD skills
  • Create and deliver motion graphics for various media
  • Have the ability to collaborate with other creative team members and Amélie employees to create content used across a variety of platforms (web, mobile, video, and more)
  • Working with art and creative teams to select audio, video, colors, animation, etc. for graphic design
  • Editing video footage and adding effects/elements to enhance motion graphics
  • Respond constructively to internal and client feedback to improve the creative work in future iterations
  • Able to meet potential fast turnarounds and have strong project management skills
  • Be a great communicator, receive and interpret feedback, and meet any potential tight deadlines
  • Make sure the overall vision for the project is being executed and delivered to the best of its ability.
  • Work with the design team to bring storyboards to life, to establish an overall animation tone for each piece and strategize transitions from one scene to the next
  • Interface with our Project Manager to make sure projects are on schedule
  • Stay up to date on the latest motion graphic design techniques

Required Skills:

  • 4 – 7 years of experience as a Motion Graphics Designer as well as a strong portfolio of sample projects
  • Strong technical skills and proven ability to use a variety of software (Photoshop, AfterEffects, Premiere Pro, 2D/3D animation, and Cinema 4D)
  • You should have an eye for design and aesthetics. Even if we aren’t relying on you for day to day storyboard creation
  • You are organized and can prioritize effectively
  • You have excellent communication skills and can clearly articulate your ideas

2D Animation

  • You have a high level ability and understanding of 2D animation in AfterEffects
  • You are well versed in thinking of creative ways to transition from one scene to the next seamlessly, even if this isn’t spelled out in the boards
  • Your work is nuanced and the motion curves go above and beyond stock easing
  • You have intimate knowledge of shape layers and when they are applicable
  • You have intimate knowledge of 3D cameras in AfterEffects
  • You have knowledge of plugins that help workflow
  • You can comfortably animate characters (walk cycles, facial expressions, lip sync, etc)

3D Animation

  • You have a high level ability and understanding of 3D animation in Cinema 4D
  • Your work is nuanced and the motion curves go above and beyond stock easing
  • You have an intimate knowledge of cameras, lighting, modeling, rigging and texturing

Compositing

  • You have a high level understanding of compositing techniques like rotoscoping, screen replacement and mocha in AfterEffects.
  • You are comfortable combining 2D, 3D, cel and stop motion animations into one piece seamlessly

Not Mandatory but Good to Have

  • We come from diverse backgrounds but all of us wear a lot of hats, so skills and interests above and beyond motion graphic design are always a plus.

Compensation:

$65,000 – $82,000 annual salary based on experience.  Benefits include 20 days PTO, Half-day Fridays, Bonus Incentive program, Annual Wellness stipend, 401K/Roth match, health insurance benefits, paid holidays + office closure from Dec 24 – Jan 1, flexible hybrid work model and more.
