Creativity. Humility. Quality. Responsiveness. These are the four values that Amélie strives to embody. What better way to pay tribute to them than by holding awesome quarterly team events? You know, the kind of events where you actually have fun hanging out with your coworkers instead of practicing trust falls and talking about feelings.
This time around we decided to celebrate Responsiveness! In an ever-changing world where impact and performance can often be gauged in real time, the ability to be nimble and responsive is incredibly important to us.
Team Responsiveness organized a day of fun for the entire famélie. Staff was divided into four groups of mixed departments that then ran around RiNo and completed several timed challenges – all while solving pretend “client emergencies.” One team’s billboard fell on a nest of endangered baby foxes, another team had a huge, public – or should we say pubic – printing error, the third team dealt with a vicious Twitter hack and the last team managed to give everyone at their fabulous launch party a bad case of food poisoning.
Challenge 1: Head to C Squared Ciders and score exactly 150 on the shuffleboard, then complete a round of giant beer pong. Oh, and your team must also drink as many ciders as you have team members.
You try chugging a cider then winning at giant beer pong. It’s not as easy as it looks, ya’ll.
Challenge 2: Find someone in need and help them (with only a $10 budget!).
One team met Dominique, who runs DNA Dance Company. She hadn’t eaten yet that day because she regularly uses her money to provide for the kids she helps instead of for herself. So, we bought her lunch. Another team handed out popsicles to the construction workers who were toiling on Blake Street in the 97 degree heat, one team paid off a bunch of parking meters for some strangers and the last team helped a group of tourists who had lost their luggage!
Challenge 3: Get your creative juices flowing and create a work of chalk art in the Amélie lot. Tweet your art to Crayola, and ask them to rate it!
Hey Crayola, we’re still waiting for you to tweet us back so we can finally settle who won.
Challenge 4: Get yo’ game on at the Blake Street Tavern. Everyone must play two rounds of skeeball and two rounds of basketball. Add up all your scores, and the team with the highest number wins!
We suspect the player on the right just dropped all the skeeballs directly in the 100s circle. There’s no other explanation.
Challenge 5: Sing your heart out at Voicebox Karaoke. Bonus points if you can work Amélie into the lyrics!
You simply haven’t lived until you’ve watched your Principals belt out Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off.
We’re fairly sure you’re not allowed to have this much fun at work! We had a great time being responsive with our famélie – want to join in next time? Check out our career opportunities, or just drop us a line – we love meeting new people!
